“ The staff and students of St. Columba School in Hamilton thoroughly enjoyed their experience at DPSoccer” say’s Rocco Colomartini.
The students were treated to a unique 1 day soccer camp at DPSoccer’s location in Stoney Creek. The group of over 70 students plus teachers and volunteers were transported to the school and arrived at 10:00am. Students were divided into smaller groups and were led through a series of fun skills and energized activities which allowed each player to apply the newly learned skills in game like situations.
The students were led by their teacher or volunteers in teams and were easily identified by their team colour which represented teams from around the world. The morning activities were followed by a lunch period which the students received pizza, pop, and The DPSoccer facility provided an ideal setting for the school trip and included use of the cafeteria for lunch and had an indoor field inside the gym that could have been used incase of inclement weather.
The afternoon was followed up by a highly anticipated mini world cup soccer tournament where every kid, regardless of ability, was able to participate. Mr. Colomartini also adds “ the coaches were knowledgeable, friendly and provided an atmosphere that allowed students to learn & experiment with newly learned skills.”
St. Columba and its staff have already booked additional trips planned for the school calendar and will be part of the schools program to promote and foster physical fitness. DPSoccer also provides this program and many others to schools who may not be able to travel.
